Psychological evaluation services can be provided in offices in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton counties or on-site in foster homes, emergency shelters, child placing agencies, CPS offices, residential treatment centers, some psychiatric hospitals, and correctional centers, throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and in surrounding counties in north central Texas.

The psychological evaluations are tailored to be most useful in

  • Answering referral questions
  • Providing a basis for treatment planning
  • Giving children a voice to help the adults in their lives understand them and what they need

 

SERVICES OFFERED:

 

  • Psychological evaluation:
    • Involves psychological testing, usually including intellectual, academic, personality, and possibly adaptive behavioral testing.
    • Provides information about child’s cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
    • Concludes with conceptualization of child and dynamics of issues identified in addition to identification of strengths.
    • Yields DSM-IV-based diagnostic formulation.
    • Generates comprehensive recommendations to address problems identified.
  • Developmental evaluation:  Specialized psychological evaluation which includes equal examination and emphasis on developmental and emotional/behavioral functioning, for children 5 years and younger.
  • Pre-Adoption evaluation:  Psychological evaluation completed in anticipation of a child’s adoption, can be focused on child’s readiness for adoption with attention to identifying any issues in need of being addressed prior to, during, or after adoption.
  • Psychological consult:  Can be completed for strategic purposes, such as to generate a diagnostic formulation or conceptualization of particular problems, when psychological testing is not necessarily needed.

For children and adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system (evaluations can be completed pre- or post-adjudication):

  • Psychological assessments and evaluations
  • Specialized assessment of children and adolescents alleged to have committed a sexual offense
  • Fitness to proceed or “competency” evaluations
  • Certification evaluations

Services are available to children ages 6 months through young adulthood.
